Armando Velarde (1942-2025)

Is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sir Knight Armando Velarde, who departed this life on June 16, 2025 at the age of 82 in Pereira, Colombia.  He was born on December 23, 1942, in Lima, Peru.

Armando graduated from Texas A&M University with a Civil Engineer degree and lived in Memphis for many years. Was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He loved his family and stayed in touch with many friends in the United States and outside the country.  He enjoyed doing many things such as fishing, cooking, woodworking, reading, and most of all, traveling.

Armando lives on by his children, Nora Velarde Williams, Virginia Velarde, Junico Velarde, and Sergio Velarde; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Armando Velarde and Maria Bertila Carranza de Velarde; wife Jeanie Velarde; and grandson Remy Velarde.

A funeral service will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8151 Chimmeyrock Blvd., Cordova, TN, on Tuesday, July 1, at 4:45 p.m.  Peace be with you.
